Rama Krishna is a duet choreography in Shilpanatanam, the compositional aesthetic created by Dr. Maya Kulkarni. This piece celebrates the Wari processual journey on foot where pilgrims irrespective of caste walk hundreds of miles to Pandharpur in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The thirty-minute-long piece is organized episodically through the experience of two Warkaris, meaning one who performs the Wari, a tradition that is almost a millennium old. Rama Krishna, exploring the Gajar musical traditions, premiered at the inaugural Interbeing Festival on August 31 2024 in Woodside Auditorium, Woodside, California.
